Impressions, reactions, followup questions - right here. Smiley Thank you Stratics for having us, and for all of you for asking a lot of great questions.

My favorite question was about the rats, just so you know.

The transcript of our chat at Stratics may be found here.

Will there be a *yoink* system in place for NPCs to loot the corpses of players they have killed? If so, will the player loot still be on the NPC when another player kills it?

Great chat, plenty of new info about crafting especially. Particularly:

Quote
<[MS]RaynerTheAp> Count is still changing but as the skill tree shapes up, over 50 is a safe bet. There will be tons of options for crafters, and learning them all will be while possible, a true epic feat. We foresee an economy fo specialization, with crafters aiming to cover niches instead whole regions of a market, and will seek out and provide services and contractor offers.

Sounds like fun. Check out the transcript of it when they get it posted, good reading.

Was a nice long chat Smiley Still, lack of beta info. I'm pretty impressed with the amount of different craft skill tree's, can't wait to see what they are.

Announcing 9 PM GMT and starting the DEV-Chat at 9 PM CET is making me sad panda.

You should notice that GMT and CET are not the same time!

----

EDIT:

OK, I've read through the DEV-chat over at http://earthrise.onlinewelten.com/articles,id676,0.html

[CI]Felix> We know players build structures on their territories to extract rare materials. Do buildings effect the rate of extraction and/or quality of extracted materials?

[MS]Ostiak> Yes, buildings will effect rate of extraction and quality of materials, but they will not effec the type of materials

TBH, the quality of raw materials should allways stay the same. If we start seeing 5 different qualities of the raw materials allready, then I won't think about the dozens of qualities a component or finished item can have.

Let's say we create a barrel out of 3  different qualities of raw iron. We mass produce them and every barrel has varying amounts of raw iron of these 3 qualities. So I produce 20 barrels, and each of them has allready a different quality.

Sorry to say, but this system will not be a system with alot of variation, but a system with too much of variation. It'll become totally impossible to have a market-interface to list all these differing items, allthough they are basically all the same.

Variation is good, but this seems like you're trying too hard there.

It started at 10 CET.

I was playing EvE online the whole day long and the system-clock in EvE is allways GMT to do away with DST and crap like that, so I'm pretty much sure what time it was, when I logged into IRC. It was 20:50 GMT.

EDIT:

Now it's 23:15 GMT, so the chat should've started 2 hours ago... not 3!

DOUBLE-EDIT:

Go check on http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/ what time it is.

All I have to say was spamming on the crafting! Tongue

Wish there was a SS to go with the dev chat like all the others a bit sad about that one  Sad Hopefully we will get some once the link is put up also? (hint hint)

But it was great to have an HoC again most of the HoC are Earthrise fans so the questions tend to be good and interesting, although this time it was insanely leaning to the crafting side (which I am not too interested in, PvP for me only).  I am expecting a very deep crafting experience tho if I do get into some crafting and it should be fun. I love having variations and nothing being the same (or well close to nothing).  I am sure the SWG vets are going to be very pleased with the amount of crafting.

Xyleya is right about the time not being as advertised. It may be a mistake in taking daylight savings time as standard time. This 20th century "saving daylight" concept should be abolished.

I would've missed more, but I noticed a post here by Moll saying the chat was underway.

I am sure the SWG vets are going to be very pleased with the amount of crafting.

I'm surely one of them.  I'm very much looking forward to as much variety as they can possibly muster, with as much complexity to crafting process as they have time to fit in.  SWG's system was by far the most intricate I've ever seen, and I haven't seen anything since or in the near future that even comes close...except ER.  Wink

Variation is good, but this seems like you're trying too hard there.

It is hard to find a post that more accurately illustrates the exact opposite of what I'm looking for from ER.  Personally, I *want* that diversity.  IMO, there's no such thing as "too much variety" in a crafting system or player-driven economy.  I whole-heartedly support the quoted dev response.  The material itself won't change, which supports the territory warfare, but the quality of the extracted resource will, which provides the basis for top-end crafters to differentiate themselves from the mediocre.

Lots of really good information regarding the markets and crafting just no Beta info =/

this one really stood out for me:

Quote
Joker[Ani]> Has there been an decision on single or multiple servers?

[MS]Ostiak> not yet

Wonder if theirs still hope for a single server.
